Almost every centre lists brand logos. Far fewer explain what the relationship behind each logo is, and that distinction changes what you can expect. We separate ours into two honest groups.
Authorised dealer — Signia and ReSound
We are an authorised dealer in Turkey for Signia (WS Audiology, Germany) and ReSound (GN, Denmark). For these two we hold the manufacturer relationship directly: full model range, manufacturer warranty processed through us, and the fitting software with the current firmware.
Independent fitting and service — six further brands
For Phonak (Sonova, Switzerland), Oticon (Demant, Denmark), Widex (WS Audiology, Denmark), Rexton (WS Audiology, Germany), Unitron (Sonova, Canada) and Sonic (Demant, United States) we carry out fitting, measurement, adjustment and service in the centre. We describe what we do rather than claim a status we do not hold — we are not stating a dealership for these six.
In practice, if you already own a device from one of them, or you arrive in Ankara wearing one bought in another country, this is the group that concerns you. The work is real and it is done here; what varies between manufacturers is the software licence, and we will tell you plainly if a particular adjustment cannot be made.
What we will not do: rank the manufacturers against each other or tell you that one brand is best. There is no audiological basis for a general ranking, and a centre that offers one is describing its own supply arrangements rather than your hearing.
The shapes, in plain language
| Style | Where it sits | Typically suits |
|---|---|---|
| RIC — receiver in canal | Small body behind the ear, loudspeaker in the canal | The most commonly fitted style across mild to severe loss |
| BTE — behind the ear | Whole device behind the ear, sound through a tube | Severe to profound loss, and children |
| ITE / ITC — in the ear | Custom shell filling part of the outer ear | People who find behind-the-ear devices awkward with glasses or masks |
| CIC / IIC — in the canal | Deep in the canal, largely hidden | Mild to moderate loss where discretion matters most |
| Super power | Behind the ear, high output | Profound loss — with the caveat that gain raises loudness, not necessarily understanding |
What happens in the fitting room
The device is programmed to a prescription target — NAL-NL2 for adults, DSL v5 in paediatric fittings — calculated from your audiogram. That is the starting point, not the finish. The prescription says what should be arriving at your eardrum; it does not know the shape of your ear canal, and two canals never behave the same way.
So the fitting is verified with real-ear measurement. A thin probe microphone sits in your canal beside the device and measures the sound pressure actually reaching the eardrum, which is then compared with the target. We use an Interacoustics Callisto system, the measurement is done for every brand we fit, and the printout is shared with you if you ask for it. This is the single step that separates a device that has been set up from a device that has merely been switched on.
If you already own a device
Bring it. Cleaning, wax filter and dome replacement, tubing, retubing of custom moulds, drying treatment and workshop repair are done here for all brands, whether or not the device came from us. Software adjustment depends on the manufacturer’s licence for that platform, and we check that before promising anything. Details are on the repair and service page, and consumables are covered on the batteries and parts page.
How to choose, if you want a rule
- Your audiogram first. The degree and shape of loss rules out more options than any preference does.
- Your listening life. Restaurants, meetings and lecture halls demand different processing from a quiet home.
- Your hands and eyes. A device you cannot handle is a device that stays in the drawer. This is the argument for rechargeable models more often than any technical one.
- Connectivity you will really use. Telephone and television streaming is genuinely useful; a feature list you never open is not.
Bring your report and we will work through those four with you. What we cannot do is choose from a photograph or a model name over the telephone.
Send your report, get the figure in writing
If you already hold an audiology report, send a photograph of it on WhatsApp and tell us whether it is for one ear or both. We reply with a written breakdown — what your cover pays, if anything, and what is left for you. No number-chasing on the phone.
The document you send is used only to prepare your calculation. Foreign-language appointments are arranged in advance; Spanish is provided with an interpreter and cannot be guaranteed for walk-in visits.
