Costs and payment

What a hearing aid costs in Turkey — and how payment actually works

This is the question we are asked first and answer last on the telephone. Here is the honest structure behind it, including why you will not find a price list on this page.

If you live in Ankara without Turkish social security, the information written for Turkish patients does not answer your question. Most of it describes state cover you do not have. This page sets out the two routes separately, so that you can work out which one applies to you before you come in.

Why there is no price list on this page

Hearing aids are regulated medical devices in Turkey. Advertising them to consumers is restricted, and publishing device prices in marketing material is outside what a hearing aid centre may do. Our own website may describe what we do and which devices we work with; it may not function as a shop window with figures. That restriction is the reason for the silence, not commercial coyness — and it applies equally to every licensed centre in the country. Any site that does publish a device price list is doing something the regulation does not permit.

What we can do, and do, is give you a written calculation for your own hearing loss before you commit to anything. That document is specific to you, it is not marketing, and you may take it away and compare it.

Route one — you have Turkish social security (SGK)

If you work in Turkey on a work permit, or you are the dependant of someone who does, you are most likely covered by SGK and the same rules apply to you as to a Turkish citizen. The sequence is fixed and it does not begin here:

  1. A state or university hospital carries out the diagnostic hearing test and issues an audiology report. Our centre does not perform diagnostic audiometry and does not issue reports.
  2. The report determines whether you qualify for cover and for one ear or both.
  3. SGK pays a fixed contribution set each year in the Health Implementation Communiqué. It is not paid to you in cash; it is offset through a contracted centre.
  4. Whatever the device costs above that contribution is the patient difference, and it is what you actually pay.

Contribution amounts are revised by communiqué and can change during the year, so we do not print them here as though they were permanent. We give you the current figure in writing, alongside your difference, at your appointment.

Route two — no Turkish social security

Diplomatic staff, students, retired residents, people on short-term permits and most spouses of foreign nationals fall here. There is no state contribution, so the purchase is private and you pay the full amount. Three practical points follow from that:

What actually moves the number

People often assume the brand sets the price. It contributes, but four other things move it more:

FactorEffect
Technology level within a familyThe largest single factor. The same brand and the same shell can carry very different signal processing.
One ear or twoTwo devices cost roughly twice as much as one. Whether you need two is an audiological question, not a sales one.
Rechargeable or batteryRechargeable models generally sit higher, and remove the running cost of batteries.
Custom in-the-ear or standardCustom shells are individually made from an impression of your ear.
AccessoriesTelevision transmitters, remote microphones and chargers are separate items.

What is included without a separate charge

Fitting to a prescription target, verification of that fitting in your own ear with our Interacoustics Callisto real-ear system, the follow-up appointments that follow the first fitting, and routine adjustment and cleaning visits afterwards are part of the service, not billed one by one. We say this plainly because the opposite arrangement exists elsewhere and people are right to ask.

Trying before deciding

We offer a fourteen-day home trial. It is our own commitment as a centre, not a statutory right of withdrawal, and the point of it is that a hearing aid cannot be judged in a quiet room in a single afternoon. You take it into your own kitchen, your own television, your own workplace, and then you decide.

Warranty

Devices sold in Turkey fall under Consumer Protection Law no. 6502 and the Warranty Certificate Regulation, which set a minimum of two years. Manufacturers may give longer, and the term varies by model, so we do not attach a single number to a brand name. The exact term for your device is written on the warranty certificate handed to you at delivery.

Three things we do not do

If you are still working out the sequence, the step-by-step process page sets it out from the first appointment onwards, and the questions page answers the shorter ones.

Send your report, get the figure in writing

If you already hold an audiology report, send a photograph of it on WhatsApp and tell us whether it is for one ear or both. We reply with a written breakdown — what your cover pays, if anything, and what is left for you. No number-chasing on the phone.

The document you send is used only to prepare your calculation. Foreign-language appointments are arranged in advance; Spanish is provided with an interpreter and cannot be guaranteed for walk-in visits.
